Finished Garment : Jamie Christina Mission Maxi

I love this dress it is like wearing comfy pj's that look stylish.

This dress has been a total lifesaver for me, our mornings are quite hectic we have just one car at the moment which means for the first half of the week I have to drive my partner to work before doing the school run and between running errands, playdates, school pick up and picking up partner again in the evening its a lot of time spent in my car so my clothing needs to be crease free and comfy and I like to look nice so cool also, I think this version of Jamie Christina's Mission Maxi dress ticks all the boxes.

I used a viscose spandex jersey from Tessuti ( you can purchase here ) and cut in a size 6 with no alterations other than to shorten the hem ( all you tall ladies this pattern is drafted super long) cant remember how much by but it was quite a bit.
It came together very quickly I made this during my sons afternoon nap ( about 2-2.5 hrs) that includes the time it took to cut out. I will be making this one again no question. please excuse the grainy pics my camera has been playing up so I've resorted to i phone snaps in the meantime.

Minty Miz Mozelle

I recently snapped up some beautiful mint green silk fabric and while searching online for some inspiration ideas I stumbled across this dress from ASOS.

I immediately thought of Jamie Christina's Miz Mozelle Dress.

It has many of the same design lines, only difference is the Miz Mozelle features a peter pan collar. I had never thought of this dress in a pastel shade like this but it suits the style perfectly. You could use a sheer chiffon and georgette and underline to get that beautiful floaty effect while retaining your modesty ;-) would be gorgeous for a daytime wedding.

Shop Update

We are now stocking these adorable peg doll kits from Pretty Ditty (aka Jamie Christina), just in time for christmas.

They are super fast and fun to make and would be the perfect gift either made up, or for a crafter to make themselves.

The kit comes with supplies for 2 dolls, sewing pattern for a dolls dress and instructions on how to make your dolly.
You require a few materials like glue and acrylic paint to paint his/her face and attach arms etc.

The kits are priced at $13.95 each and I have limited stock available before Christmas so get in quick!

Mission Maxi Dress - Finished project

I made up this midi version of the Jamie Christina Mission Maxi dress last week on a particularly sunny, summery morning.
I used this gorgeous tie dye jersey from my stash and used self fabric for the binding, which was a little tricky to make as the fabric was so slippery!

This dress is ridiculously comfy but still stylish, which when you have two little kiddies and work from home is a must. In my experience someone always come to the door those days when you haven't done your hair and are slobbing around in trackpants.

The racer back gives a nice sporty feel to it, I know I will get loads of wear out of this. Throwing on over swimsuit after the beach, out to lunch or just at home.
The pattern itself is super simple, front and back pieces cut on fold and neck and arm openings finished with bias binding, how easy can you get??

You can buy a copy of the pattern in my shop here.
also just a quick note the 10% off Megan Nielsen patterns will finish on Sunday 16/9/2012.
